My final bill: Setting the salaries for district judges and staff
I have one final bill on today's calendar, which sets the salaries of the state's district judges and their staff. HB1671 does not include the judges that are now a part of the 2007 pilot program to make this tier of judges full-time employees. Today's calendar includes nine bills with 12 senate amendments in which to concur, two House bills (only for the purposes of expunging the votes so they can be withdrawn), and six Senate bills on the third reading. We have three bills on the House budget calendar to consider.
We should make short order of this calendar and adjourn the session on our end of the Capitol well before noon. Now that the big budget bills are on the governor's desk, today is to be largely ceremonial and for purposes of keeping a quorum to consider a few final bills and in the event we need to take care of something that comes over from the Senate. I'll post anything pertinent that happens here. Both chambers will convene at 10:00 a.m.
Update: Looks like Bruce Maloch slept in this morning. The light in his office didn't come on until five past 6:00.
