New curriculum standards include Arkansas history

Arkansas history will now be taught to seventh- and eighth-graders as part of the approved curriculum. Previous guidelines that went into effect this fall combined social studies and Arkansas history into one subject for kindergartners through sixth graders, which fueled criticism from the Arkansas History Education Coalition.
