Clark County economic development plan: Update
The Interim Committees on Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development are meeting in conjunction with the Interim Committee on Transportation in Arkadelphia today, and they'll hear from AHC member Madison Murphy today on the campus of Henderson State.
The Clark County delegation kicked off the meetings last night with a synopsis of their economic development initiative using funds generated from an election that levies a countywide 1/2-cent sales tax for a period of seven years (see Act 1372 of 2005 for the enabling legislation). It passed with 68% of the vote. Pine Bluff is in the process of trying the same thing. If you're interested in seeing how this strategic plan is to work, and how the money is to be spent in an effort to attract industry, click here for the Clark County Strategic Plan.
Update: Here's an article in this afternoon's Daily Siftings Herald.
