Arkansas Teacher Retirement System Director Paul Doane's out-of-state travel expenses totaled $34,515 last year, which auditors characterized as a "significant increase" over the travel expenses of Doane’s predecessor, reports the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Doane, a former member of the Massachusetts Senate, should expect 83 out-of-state meetings over a year to be scrutinized. With a salary of $159,750, Doane is the 138th highest paid state employee in Arkansas.
