Monday filings -- Update: Filing is now closed
The period for filing for office in Arkansas closes at noon today, and I'll post a list of all filings here. Some anticipated filings include Rep. Sharon Dobbins (HD39), Rep. Bryan King (HD91), John Edwards (HD38), Johnny Dillard (HD95), and Joshua Q. Mostyn (HD99).
There will be 15 Democratic primaries and nine Republican primaries. There will be 22 contested elections in November. For a complete list of House primaries and fall contests, click here.
Of the 18 Senate seats up for election, there will be three Democratic primaries. The only contested race this fall will be in Senate District 30, where Democrat Joe White will challenge incumbent Gil Baker. Click here for a list of Senate races.
Three positions on the Arkansas Court of Appeals are up for election, and all three are contested. 22 circuit judge positions across the state are contested. Click here for a list of Arkansas judicial races. The deadline to register to vote in the May 20 Preferential Primary and Nonpartisan General Election is April 21.

List of Monday filings
Update: Here's a surprise. In House District 39, Dwayne Dobbins, not Sharon Dobbins, has filed for the seat. This has generated some buzz at the Capitol already this morning.
• Mark Steven Fowler filed for House District 85 and will challenge Bill Witty in the Democratic primary. It is incorrectly reported on the Secretary of State's website that he filed for House District 84.
• Charles King filed for House District 36 and will join Darrin Williams in the Democratic primary.
• Kelly Eichler filed as a Republican for House District 38 and will join Ed Linck in the primary there.
• Bryan King filed for re-election in House District 91.
• John Van Gorder filed as a Republican in House District 67 and will challenge Rep. Steve Breedlove.
• In District 81, Republican Gary Hunter will challenge Karen Hopper in the Republican primary to replace term-limited Rep. Johnny Key.
• In District 38, John Edwards filed and will face Jeff Dailey in the Democratic primary.
• In District 45, Republican Bill Fechtelkotter will face the winner of the Democratic contest between Terry Fiddler and Linda Tyler.
• In District 3, Republican Evelyn Bradford filed against Rep. Bubba Powers (D-Hope). This is a rematch of the 2006 general election in which Powers won 78%-22%.
• In District 81, Democrat Danny Rowe filed and will face the winner of the Republican primary between Karen Hopper and Gary Hunter.
• Jewel "Cricket" Harper filed to run for 11th judicial district, 11th division circuit judge and will face Cathi Compton and Melinda Gilbert.
• Rhonda Wood filed to run for 20th judicial district, 5th division circuit judge and will face David Hogue and Lynn Frank Plemmons.
• Hayward Battle filed to run for 22nd judicial district, 4th division circuit judge and will face Robert Herzfeld and Paul White.
• Mark Horoda filed to run as a Democrat in House District 65. He'll challenge Rep. Tracy Pennartz in the Democratic primary.
• That's all -- filing is closed. Tom Formicola did not file to run against Pryor.
